Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two close friends.”
His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the wake of the terrible crash.
