The UK's Secret Intelligence Service Introduces Encrypted Gateway to Attract Intelligence Sources in Russia
Britain's foreign intelligence agency is rolling out a specialized portal on the deep web in the hope of recruiting new spies online, particularly from Russia.
This encrypted communication tool, known as Covert Link, is designed to enhance UK security by simplifying the process for the intelligence agency to bring on board potential agents, UK officials said.
Individuals with information in Russia and around the world will be targeted by the British intelligence, it adds.
This initiative is expected to be confirmed in a presentation in Istanbul by the current intelligence director the intelligence leader on Friday morning.
"National security is the first duty of any leadership," stated a government representative.
In the coming weeks, Moore is due to hand over to his successor.
Prior to the official launch, UK authorities emphasized that advanced technology will support operations to recruit new spies for the United Kingdom—within Russian borders and worldwide.
How the Portal Works
Potential sources who seeks to safely communicate with the MI6 with sensitive information relating to security threats or adversarial operations will be able to enter the platform beginning shortly.
Directions on accessing the platform will be published on the agency's official online channel.
Users are encouraged to access it through reliable encryption tools and equipment not linked to themselves.
