President Endorses Measure to Disclose More Epstein Documents After Period of Pushback

The US leader stated on late Wednesday that he had approved the legislation resoundingly approved by American lawmakers that directs the federal justice agency to release more files concerning Jeffrey Epstein, the dead pedophile.

This action follows an extended period of pushback from the president and his backers in the House and Senate that divided his core constituency and caused divisions with various established backers.

The president had fought against releasing the Epstein documents, describing the issue a "false narrative" and criticizing those who wanted to make the records accessible, even though vowing their disclosure on the campaign trail.

Nevertheless he changed direction in recent days after it become clear the House of Representatives would endorse the legislation. Donald Trump stated: "Everything is transparent".

The details are unknown what the department will make public in following the measure – the legislation details a range of various records that need to be disclosed, but allows exclusions for certain documents.

The President Signs Legislation to Compel Release of Additional the financier Documents

The bill mandates the attorney general to make public related files publicly available "available for online access", including all investigations into Epstein, his colleague Maxwell, aircraft records and travel records, people mentioned or identified in association with his crimes, entities that were connected with his human trafficking or money operations, protection agreements and further court deals, organizational messages about legal actions, evidence of his confinement and death, and information about possible record elimination.

The justice department will have thirty days to submit the files. The measure includes specific exclusions, including deletions of victims' identifying information or personal files, any representations of minor exploitation, disclosures that would jeopardize ongoing inquiries or court proceedings and descriptions of death or exploitation.
