Reports indicate that fan-favorite actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Significant Reunion for Fans
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. Industry whispers indicate their roles will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, given that the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who was behind the majority of the previous films in the series.

The film's story are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is portrayed as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes will appear as a younger version of the calculating President Snow.
