Chalobah Expected to Step in for Marc Guehi in England Squad

Trevoh Chalobah in action

Trevoh Chalobah followed his sibling Nathaniel in representing England, becoming the twenty-first pair of brothers to play for the national team.

Trevoh Chalobah is expected to be added to the England squad to fill in for injured Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is set to join the team for England's remaining World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania, although it has yet to be confirmed.

The England team have already booked their place for next summer's World Cup.

Chalobah received his initial call-up under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then made his debut against Senegal.

In the month of September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unfortunate to be left out from the squad for qualifying games against Andorra and Serbia, and also didn't call him up for the next October matches.

Tuchel has been an significant influence in Chalobah's career, having given him his Chelsea first appearance in 2021.

Chalobah has appeared in nearly all fixtures for Chelsea in the current campaign, with the side occupying third spot in the English top flight, in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi sustained a injury to his foot in Crystal Palace's Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar in their last match.

There are likely to be additional additions to the team. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has announced that both winger Anthony Gordon (hip) and goalkeeper Nick Pope (a concussion) will be unavailable from the national team.
